KENYA’S SUMGONG FLAGGED FOR DOPING VIOLATION BY IAAF
Rio Olympic medalist Jemima Sumgong has failed an International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) test for blood boosters on Thursday.
The Kenyan marathoner tested positive for EPO (Erythropoietin) in a no-notice, out-of-competition test carried out by the governing body.
“The IAAF can confirm that an anti-doping rule violation case concerning Jemima Sumgong has commenced this week,” read a statement from the IAAF.
The 32-year-old long distance runner has been a marathon champion for Kenya winning gold in the Rio Olympics and defending her title in the London Marathon.
Kenya has been on the IAAF’s radar for failing to adhere to the anti-doping regulations.
